“EcoNoon has created a breakthrough technology to improve energy efficiency in lighting,” says Ir Oo Seoh Lin, chief marketing officer of Penang, Malaysia-based ecoNoon. The technology is designed to allow LEDs to work effectively in the unchartered territory of higher wattages.
Power consumed by lighting makes up 20% of all energy used worldwide; however, the goal of trimming this slightly to 19% presents an enormous technical challenge and cost barriers.
Globe bulbs (GL series) are being commercialized and have been be ready since September. HID (high-intensity discharge), sodium replacement bulbs are undergoing certification. Mimi spotlight bulbs (ML/SL series) will be ready shortly. The company guarantees each bulb for 30,000-50,000 hours or five years, depending on wattage.
