Pinpoint Laser Systems (www.pinlaser.com) designed its Microgage 2D system for measuring the flatness of roll and web lines, printing equipment, and other production systems to a precision of 0.0001 in. (0.0025 mm). It can operate over ranges of a few inches to 120 ft (3.6 m). The two-axis Microgage combines a laser transmitter with a receiver and digital display. As the laser moves across the receiver in a vertical or horizontal direction, the display provides a reading of the motion. Optional accessories can be used to expand the system’s alignment capabilities for machinery straightness, runout, parallelism, squareness, bore alignment, shaft alignment, and more.
